ALL NEW STUDENTS TO ESSEX COUNTY SCHOOLS OF TECHNOLOGY Upon receipt of your child’s 2022/2023 lunch application your child’s eligibility will be determined for free or reduced lunch. Until your child’s eligibility is determined, it is your responsibility to pay for your child’s lunch beginning on September 2, 2022 until you have been notified by the district of your eligibility.

RETURNING STUDENTS TO ESSEX COUNTY SCHOOLS OF TECHNOLOGY Your child’s status will remain the same until October 15, 2022. If a 2022/2023 lunch application is not submitted prior to October 15, 2022, your child’s status will change to full pay status requiring payment for lunch until receipt of application.

1. What is a lunch application?

A lunch application is a federal application to determine whether a student qualifies for either a free or reduced meal/s during the entire school year.

2. Who is required to complete a lunch application?

All Essex County Schools of Technology students (grades 9th-12th) are required to have a completed lunch application processed to receive benefits. Applications must be completed every school year.

3.Who may fill out the application?

Only the parent, legal guardian, or the student if age 18 or older may complete the lunch application form. Information may not be obtained by the school over the phone. Applications can be completed online or a hard copy can be picked up at your child’s school.

4. If I have more than one child in the school am I required to complete multiple applications?

No, only one application per household is required.

5. How is my eligibility determined?

A child’s eligibility is determined based upon standards established by the federal government for income and household size and is tied to the national poverty rate.

6. What process does the Vo-Tech use to complete a lunch application?

Essex County Schools of Technology has an on-line process.
