Annual Public Notice

In accordance with USDE Guidelines IV-O, Title VI: 34 C.F.R. § 100.6 (d) this notice shall serve to advise students, parents, employees and the general public that all Career and Technical Education opportunities offered by the Essex County Schools of Technology are available regardless of race, color, national origin, sex or disability.

During the academic year, Essex County Schools of Technology offers career and technical education programs at Essex County-Newark Tech, Essex County-Payne Tech, and Essex County-West Caldwell Tech as described below and online at https://www.essextech.org. Admission and criteria for selection in career and technical education programs do not restrict any race, color, sex, national minority origin or student with a disability from participation or access in the Essex County Schools of Technology Career and Technical programs. Applicants are required to meet the district’s general admission criteria as well as the individual program’s admission criteria. Applicants may contact the program directors to determine eligibility and qualifications for a specific program.

The Essex County Schools of Technology School programs are designed to prepare youth for a broad range of employment and further education and are offered under the guidance of certified teachers. The following is a list of programs being offered this year and the criteria for admission.

  • Health Science- ability to work in environment with various chemicals and reach, bend and lift 20 pounds; 
  • STEM-ability to work collaboratively in a lab setting;   
  • Information Technology- ability to work collaboratively and have a working knowledge of computers; 
  • Business Management and Administration-ability to work collaboratively in an office environment;  
  • Culinary- ability to work in environment with various types of food products; 
  • Cosmetology-ability to work in environment with various chemicals and hair care products;  
  • Automotive Service Technology- ability to reach, bend, and lift 20 pounds; 
  • Manufacturing (Welding, Cabinetmaking)- ability to reach, bend, and lift 20 pounds; and
  • Construction Trades- ability to reach, bend, and lift 20 pounds.   

 

The Essex County Schools of Technology School programs serve a diverse population and as such are serve several national origin minority communities. In keeping with the requirements of a community of national origin minority persons with limited English language proficiency, ECST is committed to dissemination of public notification materials to that community in its native language and assure that the lack of English-language proficiency will not be a barrier to admission and participation in ECST CTE programs.

The following individuals are designated to coordinate compliance and handle complaints under Title IX and Section 504. Additionally, any questions regarding CTE can be answered by the Directors:
