About Bloomfield Tech

The Bloomfield Tech Campus of the Essex County Schools of Technology is located at 209 Franklin Street in the town of Bloomfield, New Jersey. Each year many students from across Essex County make the important decision to attend our school and receive an excellent education which will last them a lifetime. Our fine academic and career technical education programs are producing young men and women who will go on to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Students have the opportunity to select an area of concentration from our four Career Clusters, which include Business Technology, Visual Arts & Digital Communication, Building Trades Technology and our Green Energy Academy. Ninth grade students rotate through various classes in our Ninth Grade Exploratory Program, which consists of the students spending a marking period in various concentrations from the different clusters. A student for example, might spend time in our Electric class and then spend a marking period in our Graphic Arts class. At the end of the ninth grade year a student, with the assistance of a guidance counselor make the important decision as to what cluster they will like to enter as they move into the tenth grade. Students entering the tenth grade who have selected the Building Trades Technology cluster or the Visual & Digital Communication cluster continue to explore the areas which make up those clusters through a tenth grade foundations program. The program offers the student a chance to explore the individual areas within the specific cluster in greater depth. At the end of the tenth grade these students then select the area from the cluster that they wish to specialize in during their remaining two years of high school.

We currently have various partnerships and outside learning opportunities for our students which includes a partnership with PSE&G. No matter what career path a student selects, they will be able to gain the education they will need to go on to post-secondary technical schools, major corporations, self-employment, and higher education or military service. Bloomfield Tech graduates can be found all across the United States and the world working in many different occupations.

In addition to our Career Cluster program, our students take advantage of the fine academic programs at Bloomfield Tech. Our academic programs not only prepare our students to successfully meet graduation requirements for a high school diploma, but also provide them with rigorous academics which will lay the foundation they will need to pursue higher education. Our academic program provides students the option of selecting from a growing list of Advanced Placement courses in addition to taking coursework to meet the requirements for graduation. Students can become gainfully employed while still attending high school through participation in our work-study program. Numerous community and regional employers have sought out our students because they are aware of the rigorous and challenging academic and career technical education classes offered to students at Bloomfield Tech.
