Welcome to Essex County Newark Tech!

Essex County Newark Tech was completely overhauled with extensive interior renovations and the construction of a three-story addition. The 16,500 square feet of new space includes a brand new, enlarged cafeteria and a media center, and renovations to the existing building provided for updated classrooms, modern physics labs and the infusion of enhanced technology.

A model program created at Newark Tech is the Technology Enhanced Active Learning Center, or TEAL Center. TEAL Center is another example of how the Essex County Vocational Technical School District is infusing current technology into the classroom so students continue to be challenged and prepared for college and a variety of emerging professional careers. It also offers us a glimpse of what classrooms of the future will look like, where students will learn from group instruction, one-on-one counseling and computer work. Since 2021, graduating students from Newark Tech have earned their high school diploma while simultaneously receiving their Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Essex County College.
