Sophomore Brionna Singleton set a county high jump record of 5'7" leading the Newark Tech Girls Track Team to their first County Championship Sunday at Seton Hall University. Junior Iana Amsterdam won the 55 meter dash in 7.39. The victory was a total team effort with contributions from seniors Nichole Candelaria, Sabatina Rojas, Natalie McAllister, Gifty Amankwah, juniors Essence Underwood, Natalia Hinton, and sophomores Sterline Silencieux, Jazmine Howard, Jenyce Baytops and freshman Trudie Lamby .
In winning the lady Terriers ended the four year reign of Columbia high school defeating the Cougars 72-67. Mount St. Dominic was third with 38 points.
Congratulations to coach Green for guiding this talented group to Newark Tech's first county championship.
