MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of North 13th Street Tech to guide every student to realize his or her full potential in becoming life-long learners and active citizens using technology effectively, applying 21st Century knowledge and decision-making skills essential in making appropriate choices, meeting the challenges of a multicultural and ever-changing global society in post-secondary institutions of higher learning, the workplace and in life.

GOALS

  1. Achieve 100% proficiency in language arts literacy and 100% proficiency in mathematics for Black, Hispanic, Special Needs, Econ Disadvantaged and Total Student Subgroups as measured by the October 2010 HSPA for seniors and March 2011 HSPA for juniors.
  2. Improve writing and reading comprehension through cross-curriculum focus in every classroom.
  3. Increase the number of students achieving advanced proficiency on the March 2011 HSPA by 10% minimally.
  4. Provide opportunities for students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding not just in the classroom, but throughout the school and community.
  5. Reduce student and staff lateness and absenteeism by 20%.
  6. Reduce the number of discipline referrals and suspensions by 50% minimally.
  7. Increase awareness, participation, and SAT scores minimally by 20% by offering onsite review classes.
  8. Increase the number of seniors accepted to 4-year colleges.
  9. In the 2010 school year at least 100% of the mathematics and language arts teachers observed will achieve a rating of ‘meet or exceed expectations’ in Instruction (Domain 3), as measured by the teachers’ evaluation instrument.
  10. In the graduating class of 2011, less that 10% of the students will graduate via the Alternate High School Assessment (AHSA) process.
