Many
positive things are happening at the Essex County Vocational
Technical Schools.
This month we learned that Bloomfield Tech was named as the only
secondary school in New Jersey to be recognized as a Title I
Distinguished School. Members of this school community will be
honored in Memphis Tennessee by the US Department of Education
in January.
As
many of our parents and friends know, the district was also
positively recognized for meeting 41 of 41 benchmarks for
success under the No Child Left Behind legislation. This was a
first for the district and a sign of things to come.
We
are continuing our partnerships with PSE&G as we collaborate to
develop an Energy Academy that will be a joint venture that also
involves Essex County Community College. This initiative will
lead to immediate career opportunities for many of our students
and also provide the opportunity to obtain college credits while
a student in our district.
Additionally our partnership with Comcast is growing as we plan
new joint ventures together. This year we will open our
television studio as part of our Communication Arts Academy with
Comcast as one of our business partners.
In the
coming months you will find information on many new efforts
including Leadership Programs for Students, updates on our Law
and Public Safety Academy and many more initiatives that are
helping students to Put Careers in Motion in the
supportive and caring environment of the Essex County Vocational
Technical Schools.
